Visiting Poole in Dorset

A nice resort on the south coast of England that many people may not have thought about for a holiday is Poole. Located in Dorset, Poole is a charming town which has a natural harbour and some absolutely beautiful beaches. In fact, the Sandbank beach at Poole is known as one of the best beaches in England. It stretches for three miles along the coast and has remarkably blue water lapping the sand.

The water is great for swimming and perfectly safe with plenty of lifeguards. Along the waterfront there are an abundance of cafes and restaurants with some excellent sea views. You can take boat trips out to the islands that are just offshore or you can even charter your own boat if you want to do things your way. Water skiing and water boarding are two of the water sports available for the more energetic among you.

Away from the beach there is the ‘go ape’ experience where you swing through the trees in an area of woodland that has various rope and wire trapesiums set up high in the trees. This is great fun and the whole family will love the thrill of it. Or you could take the family on an eco-trip and learn about the natural surroundings of the area or maybe hire some bikes and go cycling.

If you don’t want to stay in a hotel there are quite a few caravan and camping parks in the area. Rockley Park is one of these and it overlooks Poole Harbour. You have practically everything that you need on site here. There are plenty of activities on for everyone during the day and then in the evening there is a bar and restaurant and usually some entertainment as well.
