Gramping? That’s green, glorified camping! Forget about roughing it; put away your sleeping bags; and don’t even think about pitching a tent; at Acorn Glade you can go off grid, without… going without.
Imagine a weekend away from wi-fi, children and pets, where the bustle of city living is only a distant memory. Situated near the village of Melbourne, perched on the fringes of the Vale of York and the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, Acorn Glade provides an idyllic setting for the perfect romantic retreat for couples who want to get back to nature.
The well spaced-out off-grid accommodation ranges from British-made Yurts to a compact Log Cabin, all totally off-grid, sleeping two adults and overlooking a beautiful natural fishing lake. Each unit has a double or king size bed, warm duvet and a wood-burning stove, helping their guests to get cosy under canvas, while twinkling solar-powered fairy lights enhance the ambience.
Recently awarded a Trip Advisor ‘silver’ status as a green leader for energy efficiency and environmental-friendliness , Acorn Glade is powered by renewable energy – solar panels for electricity and air-source heat pump for hot water. Their log–cabin has an eco-friendly composting toilet and the fully equipped communal kitchen and washroom facilities employ water conservation tactics to reduce our environmental impact. This focus on conservation and green awareness does not, however, detract from the magical ‘gramping’ experience, just makes it even more special!
At heart, Acorn Glade is about showing that uncomplicated eco-living needn’t mean foregoing comfort. They want our guests to be able to truly ‘get away from it all’ in comfort and style, without impacting upon the environment.
